Prema predaji, u ovom oštećenom zatvorenom turbetu, sa šestougaonom osnovicom, prekrivenom kupolom, u kojem se nalaze dva drvena sarkofaga, pokrivena zelenom čohom, bez nišana, te ostaci dječijeg mezara, bez nišana, sahranjen je Semiz Ali-paša i njegova porodica. Međutim, Mujezinović (1982: 88) navodi da „za Semiz Ali-pašu se zna da je sahranjen u Istanbulu na Ejubu.“ Tome slično, Tafro, a u vezi sa izgradnjom Mahalske džamije i predajom da su u turbetu sahranjeni osnivač džamije sa porodicom, pojašnjava da: „Očuvala se predaja među mjesnim stanovništvom Prače da je taj osnivač bio Semiz Alipaša „Pračalija“, sadrazam turskog carstva, koji je, prema pomenutoj predaji, toliko volio Bosnu da je poslije ustoličenja za velikog vezira unapredio za jedan čin sve Bosance koji su se tada nalazili u carskoj službi. Međutim, iz dokumenata o gradnji džamije vidi se da joj je osnivač neki Huseinpaša, o kome se inače više ništa ne zna. Prema tome, taj Huseinpaša pokopan je u ovom turbetu, a pored njega njegova žena i dijete.“ (Tafro, 1954: 222). I Bašagić navodi da „Ali paša Semiz (Debeli) rodom je iz Prače, koja je pripadala Hercegovini. Kao „adžami oglan“ došao je u carski dvor, gdje se obrazovao i obnosio visoka dostojanstva. Iz dvora je izišao kao jenjičarski aga, zatim je postao beglerbeg od Rumelije, a g. 950 (1543.) vezi i namjesnik u Egiptu. G. 968. (1560.) postao je veliki vezir i nakon 4 godine mudre vlade 972. (1564) umro i sahranjen uz mauzolej Ejjubi Ensarije. Bio je veoma krupan. Iza njega je ostalo dosta duhovitih dosjetaka, koje su pobilježili njegovi suvremenici. Narod ga je veoma volio, jer je bio do skrajnosti pošten i pravedan“ (Bašagić, 1931: 11). Prema narodnoj predaji: „Vrata [turbeta] su, navodno, bila od gvožđa. Više ulaza nalazi se ploča za natpis, ali natpisa nema. Narod priča da je natpis sadržavao podatke o vakufima džamije i turbeta pa su ga mutevelije (upravnici vakufa) izbrisali kad su te vakufe prisvojili“ (Tafro, 1954: 222).
